Going Crunchy - 1st Produce Delivery

In honor of Earth Day and my continued efforts to eat healthy, I’ve signed up to be a member of a Community Supported Agriculture Farm (CSA). Whoa, big term! A CSA is beneficial to both farmers and consumers. From a high-level point of view, farmers get paid early in the season and push produce before the busier times of the season. Consumers get locally grown, fresh produce in season. For me, an even greater benefit as the consumer is that my weekly produce is delivered to my office, as many coworkers also signed up to be a member/ share holder. I should note that, my family and I have participated in a CSA farm program before, which did require us to volunteer hours at the farm. This go-around, I am not required to volunteer any time, which is great since I am too busy during the week. Though, I might take a venture to the farm in the summer to check things out.

I selected a petite share from Blue Tomato Farms, which gets me 32 weekly deliveries of vegetables for 1 person. Deliveries go from April 22nd thru December 16th. It’s literally going to be weekly episodes of my own version of Chopped – not sure what I’m going to get or what I’m going to do with each vegetable!
